corgi toys and the batmbile

By Andrew Fuller

i was recently talking to a friend about the days gone by and after a lot of the usual reminiscing we got talking about toys, and corgi toys from when we were kids and what we had, i know i had loads of them and they were great.

My thoughts turned eventually to a few in particular and knowing what i know now wished i still had them, such as the chitty chitty bang bang car, the kojak car, space 1999 craft, ufo series craft with the rocket on front, the memories are flooding in as i type away!! anyway back with it, one of my favourites i had was the batmobile from the 1966 TV series. This got me to look into the batmobile a little and just to see where it started and such like.

I know now that it was in comics but the live version was what i was looking for, i did not know that the batmobile came to life in the comics (this all depends on me doing my research correctly - so correct me if i am wrong) in 1941 just as a pretty much ordinary american car, a convertible type car.

It was however 1943 when the batmobile came to the screen in real life, once again pretty much as an ordinary american car. 1966 saw the batmobile take shape into what we know today, full of the bat gadgets to fight crime. can you remeber what gadgets this car had ? neither did i until i researched again and i eventually did a squidoo just because i was interested in what i read about and how it was part of my childhood.

The batmobile evolved several times over the now fairly new films that have been released since it's recreation in 1989. which is your favourite? Mine really is the 1966 just because it was like i said, part of my childhood, but a close second for me is the 1989 batman and batman returns batmobile.

i have done the cars history in more detail in the following http://www.squidoo.com/batmobile take a look and take part in the vote and comment if you wish to do so.

what other corgi toys do you remember and why do you remember them?

For some reason, I can't seem to remember corgi toys. You seem younger than me, so why can't I remember? What else did they put out?

i must admit i am flabberghasted, corgi diecast toys were the toys in diecast in my day, they are really collectible nowadays, they just did toys of all kinds and hundreds of them, check the www.squidoo.com/batmobile to find out more about corgi toys.

I refinished wood floors for Micheal Keaton in his home in Montana.

The only Corgi I knew in my childhood was a small dog.

It would be unlike me to remember that these were "Corgi" toys, but I certainly DO remember that Bat Mobile... and what a campy show that was!! I'll check out your lens.
